Nyhavn in Copenhagen, May 2012

The canal in the Nyhavn district of Copenhagen, Denmark. The canal and district date from the 1670s. For centuries the waterway handled cargo and freight ships and fishing boats and welcomed sailors, drinkers, prostitutes and artists, among them Hans Christian Anderson, who lived at various addresses on the canal for most of two decades.
