Roman Aqueduct in Segovia, Spain, June 2013

The Roman Aqueduct in Segovia, Spain. Here it is at its largest point, in Plaza Azoguejo, where it reaches a height of 28.5 metres. Variously thought to have been built around 1 AD or between 81 and 96 AD, the ancient Roman aqueduct still transports water to Segovia from the Fuente Fria River, 17 km from the city.
