Dordogne, France, July 1999
In front of the Château de Beynac, one of the many castles - there are more than 1,500 in all - dotting the landscape of Dordogne in France. The area covered by this French département in the country's south-western Aquitaine region corresponds roughly to that of the ancient Périgord county. This castle is one the region's best-preserved and best-known, and overlooks the Dordogne River.
